In Antioch, where Paul and Barnabas were, is in Syria. One day the belivers in Antioch worshiping God, the Holy Spirit sent them a message saying, "Send Paul and Barnabas to do the work that I've called them to do." Then belivers placed their hands on them and blessed them. Then paul and barnabas went to Cyprus.
We are still missing information about what happened on the island of Cyprus before Paul and Barnabas came to Paphos - Lauren and Dakota, work with Emma and Kaylee to put together a summary.
They found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was BarJesus, who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulas, an intelligent man. This man called Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is trainsllated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. Then Saul, (who also is called Paul) filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said "O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord?" " And now, indeed the hand of the lord is behind you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time." And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand. then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had been done, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord
Elymas was a false prophet and he tried to stop paul and barnabas from telling the roman goverment the news of jesus. He did not believe in god or jesus. jesus made him blind so that he could not even se the light from the sun.
Sergius Paulus was a roman govenor. When paul and barnabascame to town hewanted to learn more about the word of God.
But as kaylee/casie said elymas didn't like that, but he ended up learning anyway.
